Immunity Verification
Background
Tourist destinations need customers to congregate in a safe manner. However, as we enter the next phase of the pandemic, the goal is not only to re-open safely, but also to stay open. This can be achieved by ensuring safety by certifying, authenticating, and validating the testing and vaccination status of individuals while ensuring data privacy. The objective of this challenge is to pilot technologies and solutions that promote public trust and validate customer safety.
Problems
Effective and authoritative immunization testing and verification
Opt-in mechanism that preserves customer trust and privacy
Notification mechanisms to alert customers of potential disease vectors
Aggregate level reporting to ensure collective immunity level exceeds Dept. of Health requirements
Emerging Risks
New variants that are resistant to current vaccines
Unvaccinated or non-vaccine eligible customers (e.g., children)
Potential downstream logistical disruptions that can affect operations
Cybersecurity risks
Communities Affected
All public venues including theaters, museums, and attractions.
Transportation providers including trains, planes, cruises, transit.
Potential Impact
Government mandated shutdowns can decimate revenue
Loss of public trust decreases consumer demand
A super spreader event can cause significant harm to public health and negatively impact venue’s brand.
